UCB Pharma Clinical Scholarship |
UCB Pharma Australia offers an annual scholarship to the ESA to fund the salary of a young physician undertaking specialised training in epilepsy. The scholarship, valued at approximately $50,000, is tenable at any Australian teaching hospital for a maximum of 12 months.
Applications will be evaluated by the Education Subcommittee of the ESA and the Medical Director of UCB Pharma Australia or nominee.
The Scholarship will be presented each year at the ESA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM).
To be eligible, the applicant must:
- Be resident in Australia at the time of application.
- Be 40 years of age or younger at the time of taking up the scholarship.
- Be a medical graduate who has completed advanced training in general medicine, neurology, paediatrics, clinical pharmacology or other medical specialty relevant to epilepsy.
- Have demonstrated clinical excellence and the capacity to undertake specialized epilepsy training.
- Intend to continue a career in epilepsy in Australia.
- Be a member of the ESA.
The application must include:
- An accompanying letter in support of the application from the principal supervisor or the institution where the applicant intends to undertake epilepsy training.
- A curriculum vitae
- A summary of the training program
- The names of two referees.
Please state on your application if you have applied for funding elsewhere. Candidates may obtain up to 50% of the UCB Pharma scholarship amount from another source to top up a full time salary.
Applications for the scholarship should be forwarded to the ESA Secretariat. The closing date for applications is June 30, 2008. Applicants will be advised of the outcome by August 1, 2008.
