Neuroscience Trials Australia
|
Neuroscience Trials Australia (NTA) is a not-for-profit organization that acts on behalf of hospitals, clinical research centres, pharmaceutical companies and clinical research organizations (CROs) to facilitate clinical trials of drugs in neurological disorders in Australia. Through its negotiating with the various parties it aims to minimize the work for clinicians negotiating with sponsors or CROs, and potentially maximize income to the sites and the relevant societies. NTA currently coordinates clinical trials for the stroke, movement disorder and multiple sclerosis societies and has been endorsed by the ANZAN. On 3/10/08, after much consideration and discussion, the ESA Committee endorsed a proposal from NTA to assist in attracting antiepileptic drug (AED) trials to Australia and negotiating with sponsors and CROs on behalf of the ESA and its members. The NTA proposal and suggested pathway (which is available on request from Prof Sam Berkovic) provide more detail.
The ESA Committee recommends to members that they utilize the services of NTA when considering involvement in AED clinical trials or when approached by sponsors or CROs regarding AED trials.
For more information, see the NTA website or contact NTA CEO Dr Peter Keller. If you are interested in being part of the epilepsy clinical trials network or being on the ESA expert panel, please contact Prof Sam Berkovic, the ESA representative to NTA.
